We’re delighted to be launching the first-ever Upper Clements Summer Arts Festival thanks to a community grant by County of Annapolis and look forward to celebrating creativity, community, and local talent together.
As the Festival continues to take shape, this page will be regularly updated with event details, schedules, activities, and announcements. Check back often to see what’s new and help us count down to an exciting weekend of art, entertainment, and community spirit.
Festival Dates: July 25–26, 2026
Artist Submission Deadline: July 10, 2026
Stay tuned—there’s much more to come!
The Upper Clements Summer Arts Festival will feature original works from artists working in a variety of mediums and styles. Visitors will have the opportunity to view, appreciate, and purchase artwork directly from participating artists.
When a piece is sold, 80% of the sale remains with the artist, while 20% supports the Upper Clements Community Hall, helping fund community programming, hall improvements, and the continued growth of this Festival. By purchasing local art, you’re supporting both creative talent and community initiatives.

Art speaks to everyone differently. During the Festival, visitors will be invited to vote for the three pieces of artwork that resonate most strongly with them. At the conclusion of the Festival, ballots will be tallied and the artists receiving the most public support will be recognized with a People’s Choice Award.

In addition to public voting, the Festival will feature a Juried Critics’ Choice Award. An independent panel will review submissions and identify works that demonstrate exceptional artistic merit.
Selected artists will receive a Juried Critics’ Choice Recognition Certificate, and award recipients will be chosen from among those selected works. This process provides participating artists with the opportunity to earn juried recognition and professional acknowledgement.
For artists seeking professional recognition and the opportunity to participate in a juried exhibition, the Upper Clements Summer Arts Festival is pleased to offer a Juried Critics' Choice Award.
Opportunities to exhibit in juried shows can be limited, particularly in rural Nova Scotia, making this a valuable opportunity for both emerging and established artists. Inclusion in a juried exhibition is often viewed as a meaningful professional achievement and can help artists build their exhibition history and artistic credentials.
The Festival's jury panel has been assembled by UCCDA President Tim Wall, a former commercial art gallery owner and art dealer with many years of experience working with artists, collectors, and the public.
The panel brings together individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives related to the arts, providing a thoughtful and well-rounded evaluation process.
Following the submission deadline of JULY 10, the jury will review all entries and select those works they believe demonstrate a strong level of artistic merit. Selected artists will be entered into a select Juried Exhibit portion of our festival programming and receive a Juried Critics' Choice Recognition Certificate, acknowledging their inclusion in the juried portion of the exhibition.
In making their selections, jurors may consider factors such as technical skill, composition, originality, visual impact, and presentation. From among the selected works, the jury will identify the recipients of the Juried Critics' Choice Award.
Join us for a community barbecue during the Festival weekend, featuring complimentary hot dogs courtesy of Miller’s Your Independent Grocer in Annapolis Royal. Additional treats and beverages will be available at the canteen, with all proceeds helping support future festivals and community programming.
